Today, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, attended the ceremony of marking 28 years since the 5th Detachment of Special Police Brigade was established. As the Minister and a war commander of the Special Police Unit he laid wreaths for 26 perished members of this elite police squad. On this occasion, Lukač said that the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the creation of the Republic of Srpska would be forever remembered. ‘It is our obligation never to forget what they have done for their people and the Republic of Srpska. Marking each of our detachment establishing days confirms that we will remember the heroic acts in their, unfortunately, short lives’, Lukač concluded. The ceremony was also attended by the mayor of the City of Doboj, Mr Boris Jerinić, the President of the Assembly of the Veterans of the 5th Detachment of Special Police Brigade, Mr Nenad Stevanović, retired general, Mr Ljubiša Borovčanin, the head of Doboj Police Administration, Mr Slobodan Radinković, members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, representatives of the former 4th Ozren Light Infantry Brigade and the Veterans’ organization of the City of Doboj.
