The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, visited today together with the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, where they held a meeting with the Head of the Police Administration, Mr Stjepan Terzić, and discussed the security situation which was evaluated as good.             They praised the recent activities of police officers in investigating the burning of the vehicle and throwing a bomb in the yard of a family home in Bijeljina last weekend. The Minister pointed out that the proactive and efficient reaction of police officers was crucial, as well as good cooperation with the prosecutor’s office.             Minister Karan and Director Kostrešević also met with the Chief District Prosecutor of the Bijeljina District Prosecutor’s Office, Ms Olga Pantić. She stated that their cooperation with the RS MoI police officers was extraordinary.              Minister Karan expressed his gratitude to the Bijeljina District Prosecutor’s Office for their efficiency in investigation of the murder of a police officer from the Bijeljina Police Administration in October last year, which resulted in prompt disclosure of this serious criminal offence and the arrest of the perpetrators, owing to the synchronous activities of the police officers and the prosecutor’s office.             During their visit to Bijeljina, they reiterated the determination of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior to continue the implementation of the video surveillance system in public areas in the framework of the Safe City project, which represented a good tool for the police in detecting criminal offences, maintaining public peace and order and the overall security situation.
