Representatives of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior visited yesterday the Centre for Missing and Abused Children in Novi Sad with the aim of exchainging experience, discussing the possibilities and identification of challenges related to the introduction of the ”Amber Alert” alarm system in case of a missing child in the Republic of Srpska. Representatives of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior and the Centre for Missing and Abused Children presented their activities in introducing the ”Find me” system in Serbia, and the work of the Working group for introduction of the system for emergency informing of the public in case a child goes missing. Head of the Cybercrime Unit within the Crime Police Administration of the RS MoI, Mr Olivije Zimonja, stated that the objective of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was to improve and upgrade its work in the field of finding missing people, especially children. ”Our objective is to give a new dimension to searches of missing children and to have the possibility to immediately alarm and inform the public who could contribute to finding the child. Institutions in Serbia have already implemented the necessary steps – from the idea to its realization, and today we witnessed the first use of the ”Amber Alert” system in Serbia”, Zimonja said. He pointed out that the meeting has coincided with the first activation of the ”Amber Alert” system in Serbia, and that we could see its numerous advantages and possibilities. The founder of the ”Find me” Foundation, Mr Igor Jurić, hosted the delegation of the RS MoI and welcomed the initiative of our Ministry. He said that he had hoped that they would never have the chance to activate the ”Amber Alert” alarm system, but that it unfortunately happened and that, from the technical aspect, the system had justified its introduction.
