Around 230 children from kindergartens from Laktaši and Banja Luka visited today the Training Centre of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior in Zalužani as a part of the Open Door Day, and had the opportunity to see the equipment and means used by the police in their work. The aim of this activity was to create and foster children’s trust in the police, because they need to know that the police was there for them. During the visit, the children also had the opportunity to see the police horses and service dogs of the Gendarmerie, visit the Helicopter Unit of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and get a closer look at the armored vehicles Despot and Vihor, police motorcycles and quads. The open door days are planned for this week and it is expected that around 650 children from kindergartens and schools from the Banja Luka region would visit the Training Centre.  Ms Slađana Kesić, pedagogue at the Laktaši Centre for Pre-School Education, said that the Centre had very good cooperation with the RS MoI and the local police station. ”The children were thrilled with the visit to the RS MoI Training Centre in Zalužani, because they had the opportunity to see the things that they do not see every day – horses, police dogs and vehicles, which is extremely important for their growth and development”, said Kesić. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior organizes open door days on the occasion of the 4th April - Police Day.
