THE SECURITY SITUATION ON THE TERRITORY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA ASSESSED AS SATISFACTORY

           The security situation on the territory of the Republic of Srpska was assessed as satisfactory at the Staff meeting organised by the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, and the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, held today in the town of Foča, and also attended by the heads of operational administrations of the Ministry at its HQ and the head of Foča Police Administration.                 The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, said that the results realised within the first three months of this year, during which reduced number of criminal offences had been recorded, showed that the Ministry of the Interior remained the true keeper of peace and security of the Republic of Srpska. ‘It is important to point out that the Ministry of the Interior has been fulfilling their legal duty in these turbulent times, when the constitutional order of the Republic of Srpska is being under attack, and while we are suffering various global influences in different manners, including the repercussions on the Republic of Srpska’, Minister Karan said. He pointed out that the police activities on the field have been increased in the previous year, and as a result, during the first three months of this year in the Republic of Srpska, the number of committed criminal offences of ‘Theft’ have been reduced, as well as the number of crimes against life and limb, robberies, domestic violence, abuse and exploitation of children.        ‘The total rate of criminal offences has been reduced by almost 14%, criminal offences against property by more than 20%, whereas the criminal offences of sexual abuse and children exploitation have been reduced by 84%, which is the best indicator of police work and activism’, Minister Karan said.            He pointed out that great results have also been achieved in countering the abuse of narcotic drugs, but a lot more would have to done in order to increase traffic safety.                     ‘We have increased repressive measures, and yet, the majority of drivers is still under the influence of alcohol.
