REPORT AGAINST A CITIZEN OF TURKEY FOR E-MAIL FRAUD SUBMITTED TO BANJA LUKA DISTRICT PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

     Today, the police officers from Banja Luka Police Administration submitted to Banja Luka District Prosecutor’s Office the Report against a citizen of the Republic of Turkey whose initials are M.Y, based on suspicion that they committed the criminal offence ‘Computer Fraud’.        With the aim of obtaining illegal material gain, the aforementioned person is suspected of intercepting electronic mail, changed the payment instructions between the legal persons from Banja Luka and the Republic of Germany, thus obtaining criminal proceeds in the amount of EUR 15,620.       On this occasion, Banja Luka PA would like to urge the citizens to pay more attention and increase their caution, so if they have suspicions of fraud involved during e-mail communication, primarily by phone or in some other manner, they should contact the sender in order to check the credibility of data. In case of receiving suspicious e-mail, they should immediately contact the nearest police station. Also, at the website of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, the Unit for countering high-tech crime has listed banks abroad with the information (IBAN/SWIFT) through which the frauds are commonly perpetrated (https://mup.vladars.rs/lat/index.php?vijest=vtk&id=30349&vrsta=prevara ).
