THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR MARKED THEIR SAINT PATRON’S DAY – SAINT ARCHANGEL MICHAEL

With the Holy Liturgy service, a memorial service for 782 fallen members of the Ministry of the Interior during the war, and the consecration of the Slava bread and traditional wheat dish, the saint patron’s day of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior - the Saint Michael the Archangel’s Day – was marked at the Memorial Church of Saint Michael the Archangel at the Training Centre, in Zalužani. The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, said that the Ministry would continue doing everything in their powers to keep the constitutional order of the Republic of Srpska and a peaceful and prosperous life of citizens, and continue strengthening their capacities. At the ceremony, he pointed out that the challenges were huge nowadays, and thanked the leadership of the Republic of Srpska and its institutions for providing their huge contribution for the Ministry to remain strong guarantee of security for all citizens. Minister Karan added that a lot was invested in the training of police officers and providing equipment for them, and that the staff rejuvenation would be continued. ‘At the moment, there is the total number of 1,000 young cadets attending the Police Academy and new members of the High School of the Interior’, Minister Karan said. He reminded that the Republic of Srpska invested BAM 194 million in the Ministry, and that the building of Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration was under construction as well as great number of police stations on the whole territory of the Republic of Srpska. ‘Saint Michael the Archangel is a saint protecting Srpska, its liberty and citizens. On this day, we remember all our ancestors, descendants, establishing the Republic of Srpska and the Ministry of the Interior, as well as all the people who gave their lives for Srpska’, Minister Karan said. The Republic of Srpska Prime Minister, Mr Radovan Višković, said that Srpska had no army of its own and that the Ministry of the Interior fulfilled the role of providing security, and pointed that the investments would continue for this institution to become even stronger. He added that the Republic of Srpska had invested a lot in human and material resources of the Ministry in order to be protected and have trained, proficient and qualified people who are in any moment ready to protect everybody living on the territory of the Republic of Srpska, regardless of their ethnicity and religion.
