The Republic of Srpska

A member of the Gendarmerie Unit – Mounted Police and Service Dogs of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Željko Čeličković, and his service dog, Hugo, successfully completed the international training K-9 for certification of service dogs and their handlers, among the top four, and were the only ones to win the officially highest grade - ‘OUTSTANDING’.

After finishing the training, which lasted from 30th September to 10 October 2025, Mr Čeličković became the first in the history of the Republic of Srpska Gendarmerie to obtain an international certificate as a handler of service dogs according to the FRONTEX standards, thus entering the circle of the most proficient professionals in Europe. 

The training was realized through six very challenging and professional modules. The modules of practical training included the exercises of searching closed spaces, suitcases and luggage, vehicles and open terrains.
