Foča is a safe city, which is confirmed by the presence of more than 660 international students studying there, as security conditions are a key factor for their arrival, stated Željko Budimir, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, following a meeting with the management of the Foča Police Administration.

Together with Siniša Kostrešević, the Republic of Srpska Director of Police, Minister Budimir reviewed the material and technical equipment, as well as working conditions of the police officers during their visit to the Foča Police Administration.

“We are certainly planning to invest in this operational area in the coming period, especially in infrastructure reconstruction,” Minister Budimir said.

In terms of criminal offences, he emphasized that the rate of solved cases was satisfactory, but pointed out an increase in traffic accidents, noting that the section of the road between Sarajevo and Foča is particularly demanding.

“This is one of the most challenging road sections in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, combined measures will need to be implemented together with the company Putevi Srpske, rather than expecting the police alone to handle all issues related to traffic,” added the Minister.

The Minister and the Director also visited police stations in Čajniče, Rudo, and Višegrad to assess the situation on the ground.
