Today, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior organized a ceremonial reception for 36 police officers from the whole territory of the Republic of Srpska who showed a high level of professionalism and willingness to risk their own lives while saving other people’s lives and special humanitarianism while performing their activities and tasks.

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, said that the police officers from the Republic of Srpska, commended today for their professionalism and dedication, performed an admirable feat and confirmed that the Republic of Srpska Police was one of the best in the region.

Minister Budimir said that no country could be without police force, since their task is to protect the citizens and their free and peaceful life.

‘Police work is very demanding, so it requires great courage. This is confirmed by the total number of 782 police officers who lost their lives in the Defensive-homeland war and 33 who died on duty from the end of the war to this day’, he added.

Police officer from Banja Luka Police Administration, Mr Srđan Šodolović, said that police officers were always there to serve the citizens with the aim of protecting their security and property. He pointed out that the job of a police officer was not easy, but that it represented a vocation and mission, and that, regardless of whether they were on duty or not, it is obligatory for police officers to react in order to protect citizens’ lives and property, since that was the commitment of the oath they took when they were admitted to service.
