The Republic of Srpska

Today, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, laid wreaths at the Central Monument to the fallen members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, on the occasion of marking March 7, the International Day of Remembrance for Police Officers Fallen in the Line of Duty. 

Minister Budimir said that the International Day of Remembrance for Police Officers Fallen in the Line of Duty is an opportunity to honour all police members who lost their lives while performing their duties, stating that, unfortunately, thirty-four police members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior lost their lives in the line of duty. 

He added that police officers perform their work professionally in order to protect the citizens of the Republic of Srpska, a duty that is often paid for with their lives. 

Furthermore, he stated that police officers perform their tasks on daily basis in order to provide security for all citizens of the Republic of Srpska, although the public most often notices them only in critical situations that significantly disturb public peace and order. 

He announced that a monograph dedicated to the fallen members of the Republic of Srpka is planned to be produced and promoted on the Republic of Srpska Police Day, April 4.

Today's event was also attended by the heads of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and police departments.
