Today, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, opened the renovated and upgraded part of Mrkonjić Grad PA facility – an investment of the Republic of Srpska Government, whose value is BAM 982,769.

Minister Budimir congratulated the opening of the reconstructed facility to all the members of Mrkonjić Grad Police Administration which, after the adaptation of the existing 1,215 m2 and addition of 242 m2, became functional space where work conditions are considerably enhanced. Minister also commended the members of this Administration who contributed to the reconstruction works by performing the tiling and painting works. 

‘This is a unique phenomenon among the institutions of the Republic of Srpska. Commitment and effort of the members of the Ministry shows that job of a police officer is actually a vocation, not just a common administrative job. Personally, I am very pleased with how the head of the Administration, heads of departments, and employees of the whole police station perform their duties, and generally everything that occurs on the operational territory of this Administration’, Minister Budimir pointed out. Together with Director Kostrešević, he laid a wreath at the memorial for the fallen members of the Ministry of the Interior from the territory of Mrkonjić Grad who lost their lives during the Homeland-defensive war in 1990s. 

Additionally, Minister announced new investments, one of them being new vehicles for Mrkonjić Grad Police Administration. He said that adaptation of additional rooms required at least BAM 100,000, and that these would be used by Gendarmerie Administration. 

Head of Mrkonjić Grad PA, Mr Milan Milekić, said that the security situation on the territory of his administration was at the satisfactory level, and thanked the Republic of Srpska Government, Minister of the Interior and Police Director for providing the employees of the Administration with much better work conditions. 

‘Since we are a service for citizens, it is our obligation to work even better, with a higher level of professionalism. Our task is also to maintain the favourable security situation, respond to all challenges we are facing nowadays, and raise the security level for both our citizens and their property’, Mr Milekić said. 

The head of the Municipality Mrkonjić Grad, Mr Dragan Vođević, thanked the Republic of Srpska Government, Minister of the Interior and Police Director, since this type of facility was something all citizens should be proud of, especially the members of the Ministry, since they were going to have excellent work conditions. ‘Even we, as citizens, feel much safer’, Mr Vođević said.
