The Republic of Srpska

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, attended a ceremony today in Prijedor marking the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of the Seventh Detachment of the Special Police Brigade of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. 

On this occasion, a memorial service was held at the Church of the Holy Trinity for the fallen members of the Seventh Detachment. Wreaths were laid at the central memorial ’’For the Honourable Cross’’ and at the memorial plaque at the headquarters of the Prijedor Police Administration. 

Minister Budimir emphasised that chivalry was the most important characteristic of the Special Police Brigade. 

Minister Željko Budimir stated that ‘’the Brigade fought every single battle in the Homeland Defense War with chivalry. Mr Zlatko Brdar is the man under whose command these men went through the war and defended their city at the end of the conflict. This detachment has six fallen members, which shows that these units were led by professionals.”

He emphasised that the Republic of Srpska must not forget the sacrifice of its heroes, and that the institution will continue to provide support and care for their families. 

The Seventh Detachment was established on February 22, 1994 and comprised around 400 members, of whom 6 were killed and 65 wounded.
