GENDARMERIE UNIT

BASIC INFORMATION

Head of the Administration

Mr Slaviša Trifković was born on 7 May 1980 in Banovići, BIH. He completed the High School of Internal Affairs, College of Internal Affairs, and the Faculty of Security and Criminalistics in Banja Luka.

He has been employed with the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior since 1999. Over the years of service, he performed duties on the following positions: police officer, police officer within the Unit for Support, deputy Commander of the Unit for Support, Commander of the Unit for Support, assistant Commander of Gendarmerie, and deputy Commander of Gendarmerie. Mr Trifković was appointed Gendarmerie Commander on 22 October 2024.

DUTIES

Duties

to direct and coordinate the activities of the Gendarmerie units in its structure,
to perform more complex tasks and activities in accordance with the Constitution and Law with the aim of providing security to citizens, and their property on the territory of the Republic of Srpska, and be engaged based on the order of the Gendarmerie Commander, with the consent of the Minister or Police Director,
to provide assistance to operational administrations at the HQ and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit in performing their tasks,
to maintain public order and peace during public assemblies with increased risk and participate in establishing public order and peace when it is disturbed to a higher degree,
to provide support to regular police forces in performing high risk police operations,
to support the activities on the railroad, airport, water, etc.
to support the regular police forces in providing security to certain persons and facilities in cases of high security risk,
to perform activities and tasks for providing sniper support while performing tasks of providing special security,

to participate in security escort as a protection team,
to block and search a field with the aim of finding and catching perpetrators of criminal offences, finding victims of criminal offences, finding traces and items,
to provide support to regular police forces when more complex assistance is necessary,
to protect citizens and their property in cases of large scale natural disasters,
to perform tasks and activities by using service dogs and horses,
to prepare and draft analyses and information,
to perform police activities when the use of service dogs and horses is necessary (patrolling activities on picnic areas, beaches, pedestrian and tourist zones, etc.),
to be engaged for public events and tasks with the aim of representing the Ministry and perform other activities and tasks in their competence.

GENDARMERIE UNIT – MOUNTED POLICE AND SERVICE DOGS

to perform activities and tasks by using mounted police and service dogs,
to provide security during high risk public assemblies and establish public order and peace disturbed to a higher degree,
to provide assistance in more complex situations, such as barricades and raids,
to provide support in emergency situations, prepare and draft analyses, reports and information, keep records,
to perform police activities when it is necessary to use service dogs and horses (patrolling activities on picnic areas, beaches, pedestrian and tourist zones, etc.),
to be engaged for public events and tasks with the aim of representing the Ministry,

to participate in the realization of training for working with service dogs and horses,
to manage the training procedures with service dogs and horses,
to manage proper nutrition, health condition and accommodation conditions for service horses and dogs,
to participate in searches for missing persons, especially in cases of natural disasters,
to be engaged in searching for and catching the perpetrators of criminal offences that show resistance,
to detect explosive devices and narcotic drugs, as well as other items and traces of criminal offences,
to draft monthly programme proposals and training plans,
to organize and realize all training contents approved by the competent manager,
to perform other tasks in their scope of activities.

GENDARMERIE UNIT

a gendarmerie unit within a police administration performs special activities and tasks with the aim of providing security to citizens and their property on the territory of a PA at the request of the head of that PA, by the order of Gendarmerie Commander and when it is necessary, within the limits of legal powers on the territory of the Republic, based on the order of the Gendarmerie Commander, and with the consent of the Police Director or the Minister,
to provide support to crime police in performing their tasks,
to maintain public order and peace during public assemblies with increased risk and participate in establishing public order and peace when it is disturbed to a higher degree,
to provide support to regular police forces in performing high risk police operations,

to support the activities on the railroad, airport, water, etc.
to support the regular police forces in providing security to certain persons and facilities,
to block and search areas with the aim of detecting and catching the perpetrators of criminal offences, finding the victims of these criminal offences, traces and items,
to support regular police forces when more complex assistance is necessary,
to protect citizens and their property in cases of large scale natural disasters,
to perform other tasks and activities according to the law,
to perform other activities and tasks in their competence.
