The Republic of Srpska

Today, in Banja Luka, the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Željko Budimir, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Mr Ivica Dačić, and discussed the improvement of the cooperation between the two ministries in the area of security.

They agreed that the stability of the region is of key importance, and that institutions of the Republic of Srpska and Republic of Serbia would continue to work on strengthening security capacities and protection of citizens.

During the meeting, the Ministers highlighted the importance of a continuous and intensive cooperation in the fight against organized crime, terrorism, illegal migration, as well as all forms of cross-border crimes.

Special emphasis was placed on the exchange of operational information, joint activities of police agencies and coordination in crises.

The improvement of the cooperation in the field of training and professional development of police officers as well as the implementation of joint projects in the future was agreed on since the professional development of police officers is one of the key segments for strengthening institutional capacities and efficient addressing of modern security challenges.

Minister Budimir expressed his gratitude for the support the educated police and military institutions of Republic of Serbia provided to the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska in education and professional development of police members. The interlocutors assessed that, so far, the cooperation is at a high level.
