Mr Željko Budimir, Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, officially opened the sports games of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, “Police Sports Day 2026”, today at the Training Center in Zalužani.

Minister Budimir stated that the Republic of Srpska Police was the most capable police agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that the sports games of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska represented a great opportunity to demonstrate that. 

He emphasized that the “Police Sports Day” is a place for healthy and fair sports competition among members of the Ministry.

“We have one of the best police agencies in the region, and this is the result of continuous work, intensive investment in equipment, as well as in training, in order to provide better security protection for our citizens,” Minister Budimir said.

Mr Davor Stupar, deputy president of the Union of the employees of internal affairs of the Republic of Srpska, said that this year’s “Police Sports Day” gathered around 700 participants, which was a record number, elevating this event to the level of a serious competition.

“This is an indicator of the progress of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as of the Union of employees, because sports gatherings of employees are very important for union activities, since in this way we achieve solidarity and unity among employees,” Stupar stated.

Mr Mile Šikman, Head of the Police Education Administration of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, said that participants of the “Police Sports Day” would compete over two days in six disciplines for the best overall results.

“A total of 26 organizational units of the Ministry are taking part in the competition, organized into 126 individual teams. We have encouraged them to compete fairly on the field, but to also demonstrate unity and strength,” emphasized Šikman.

The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, also attended the opening ceremony of the ”Police Sports Day”.
