Today, in Foča, members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior successfully performed a tactical-demonstration exercise “Drina 2026”, during which they demonstrated a high level of training, coordination and readiness to react in all security challenges.

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, said that complex circumstances of the evacuation and protection of VIPs on the river during a terrorist attack were presented during the exercise. He also emphasized that members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, together with the Aviation Administration, showed a high level of training and coordination.

Minister Budimir highlighted that today’s exercise was the pinnacle of training, which the Training Center of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior organized together with the Administration for Protecting Persons and Buildings, with the assistance of the Gendarmerie and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit.

“We have shown that we have the capability for such complex tasks, especially in the training of police officers who participate in the tasks of protecting certain individuals”, said Minister Budimir. 

He emphasized that it was important that the Republic of Srpska had a police force that could respond to various security challenges, especially due to the increasingly frequent arrivals of foreign delegations.

“Few people in the region can do something like this. What the Police of the Republic of Srpska is doing and what they will do in the coming period is maximum professionalism and the struggle to keep police standards at the highest level”, said Minister Budimir.

The Mayor of Foča, Mr Milan Vukadinović, congratulated Minister Budimir, members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, rescue units and all the participants of the exercise on the demonstrated level of training and professionalism.

He commended the cooperation between the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the local communities, as well as stressed the importance of continuous equipping of the police, civil protection and firefighting units.

Members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, the Republic of Srpska Civil Protection Administration, Mountain Rescue Service, Foča Territorial Fire Brigade and the Republic of Srpska Aviation Service participated in today’s tactical-demonstration exercise.

The exercise was attended by the Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, and the Mayors of the municipalities operationally covered by the Foča Police Administration.
