The Republic of Srpska

Today, at the Training Centre in Zalužani, a sniper rifle  prototype  was presented, which was developed by the ’’Kosmos’’ Banja Luka Company, in cooperation with the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. 

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, pointed out that he was proud that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the ‘’Kosmos’’, managed to develop a bolt-action sniper rifle, adding that 20 rifles had already been ordered for the needs of the Gendarmerie. 

He stated that the two sniper rifle prototypes met the standards of international brands, namely the systems used by the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and the Gendarmerie Unit of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior. 

Furthermore, he stated that ‘’This is a system that demonstrated high precision today, and I am confident that it will meet the requirements set for the ‘’Kosmos’’ by the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, as the tactical user’’. In addition, Minister Budimir said that following this procurement of rifles for the Gendarmerie, a larger number of these systems would be ordered, even though the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior continued to procure branded and world-renowned systems. 

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Savo Minić, said that today’s presentation of the sniper rifle prototypes, developed by the ‘’Kosmos’’ Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, demonstrated that the Republic of Srpska had the potential to develop its own solutions and keep up with modern technological trends. 

The Director of the ‘’Kosmos’’ Banja Luka, Mr Dušan Vještica, stated that the ‘’Kosmos’’ developed the sniper rifle using its own technologies, with significant support from the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, which defined the tactical requirements.

The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, also attended the promotion of the sniper rifle.
