On the occasion of the beginning of the 2026/2027 school year, the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska is conducting its traditional campaign “Let’s Protect Children in Traffic”, aimed at raising awareness among all road users of the need for extra caution on roads near schools.

Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Željko Budimir and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević attended today a lecture delivered by police officers of the Prijedor Police Administration to first-grade pupils of the Primary Schools “Petar Kočić” in Prijedor.

Minister Budimir said today that one of the results of the Ministry’s traditional campaign “Let’s Protect Children in Traffic” was raised awareness, at least among drivers who bring pupils to school.

He appealed to drivers to drive more slowly and cautiously, particularly in areas where schools are located, and to pay more attention to the youngest road users.

“Through all its activities, increased police presence, educational activities and the use of speed cameras near schools, the police will seek, through both preventive and enforcement measures, to ensure that drivers exercise greater caution when passing schools and travelling along routes used by pupils,” said Minister Budimir.

Ms Vesna Pavić, Director of the Primary School “Petar Kočić”, said that the school had a total of 1,152 enrolled pupils and maintained very good cooperation with representatives of the Prijedor Police Administration and the Police Station for Traffic Security.

“They regularly deliver traffic safety lectures to our pupils from the first to the third grade. We also have a school police officer, and whenever there is a need during the school year for a lecture on a particular topic, they are always available to assist us,” said.

The lecture was also attended by Head of the Prijedor Police Administration Dragan Milojica and his associates.
