Today, in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, and the mayors of the cities of Gradiška, Laktaši and Prijedor, signed the Agreement on Electronic Data Exchange, whose aim is to support the administration and local self-government in providing their services more efficiently.

Minister Budimir said that citizens often needed the certificates of permanent residence, and that in future, they would not have to go to the designated locations in their local communities to obtain this document in hard copy for certain administrative purposes.

‘I would like to express my gratitude to the mayors who understood the need to sign this type of agreement. In general, these local communities are leading institutions in digitalization of public administration and local self-government, as well as services provided to the citizens’, Minister Budimir said.

The Mayor of Gradiška, Mr Zoran Adžić, said that the city had been working on digitalization for a while, and that, thanks to the signing of the Agreement, the procedure of obtaining the certificate of permanent residence would be significantly shortened.

The Mayor of Laktaši, Mr Miroslav Bojić, said that this city was also working intensely on digitalization of their services. With this Agreement in force, they could work faster on additional issues, such as enrolling children in kindergartens, implementing pro-natalist measures or other issues in the scope of activities of the Social Welfare Center.

The Mayor of Prijedor, Mr Slobodan Javor, said that the city administration was doing everything in their powers to make it easier for the citizens to solve certain issues, and reduce waiting in queues. He reminded that the city administration had also signed with the Ministry of the Interior the Agreement on the revitalization of surveillance cameras on public areas.
