Today, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, organized reception for the members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit who participated in the international competition of special units ‘UAE SWAT CHALLENGE’ in Dubai. 

Minister Budimir said that the members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit achieved notable results at the ‘SWAT Challenge’ competition in Dubai, which definitely proves that they belong to the global elite of special police units. 

He pointed out that they would have his support the following year as well, and that the members of the Ministry would continue to participate in this type of competitions in future, since this type of experience was also an excellent preparation for their regular police tasks and activities. 

The Commander of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, Mr Saša Japundža, said that the preparations for this competition in Dubai lasted for a month and a half and that they were satisfied with the achieved results, since this year, they scored better than the previous year. ‘We will do our best to use the time until the next competition to prepare for certain challenges, so we can have even better overall standings’, Commander Japundža said. 

The prestigious competition ‘SWAT Challenge’, which consisted of challenges designed with the aim of measuring the capabilities of special units, was held from 7 to 11 February, and organized by the Dubai Police. The total number of 109 teams from 48 countries participated in this competition.
