The Republic of Srpska

Today, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Government, Mr Savo Minić, together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Brod, Mr Milan Zečević, officially launched the video surveillance system in the territory of this municipality. 

Minister Budimir emphasised the importance of launching the video surveillance system in the municipality of Brod where this border municipality has a high frequency of vehicles and persons, and therefore, is the target for organised crime, as well as other security risks.  He said that this approach would increase possibilities to monitor persons of security interest, but also would enable greater traffic control. 

 ‘’We are currently trying to reduce the number of traffic accidents, and this system would help us in our efforts to increase traffic security’’, Minister Budimir said. 

Mr Savo Minić, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Government, said that this was the result of the cooperation between the local community and institutions of the Republic, as the municipality itself invested around BAM 50, 000.00 into this system. 

Furthermore, he said that every citizen should  feel safe in the Republic of Srpska, and that the police can  perform their tasks more easily and quickly, thereby contributing to overall security.
