The Republic of Srpska

On the occasion of Police Day, 4th April, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior organized an event with the citizens at Trg Krajina in Banja Luka. At the event, a musical parade of the Police Orchestra was held in the streets of the city, as well as a demonstration exercise by members of the Gendarmerie and a tactical-technical exhibition.

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, said that the citizens of Srpska could be sure that the security situation would be at satisfactory level, thanks to the Ministry of the Interior.

“The state of public peace and order will be satisfactory and the Ministry of the Interior of Srpska will do everything necessary to keep it that way,” Minister Budimir said.

He pointed out the importance of equipping the Police in the Republic of Srpska, and that the modernization of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the police officers is in progress — from the Medical Protection Unit to the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and the Gendarmerie. 

“Another activity that contributes to modernization is the international cooperation which the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior has with international organizations with which we exchange the experiences when we buy equipment for special purposes, as well as regular equipment for police officers,” Minister Budimir explained. 

He announced that in the future there would be greater investments in the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior than ever before, and emphasized that the equipment would be continuous and constant, and soon the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska would obtain new vehicles.

Minister Budimir reminded that the Gendarmerie was formed as a basic organizational unit within the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and that its additional equipping with vehicles for performing regular tasks within their competence was in progress.

 After the demonstration exercise, the citizens had the opportunity to look at the equipment and arms used by police officers in their work, as well as armoured vehicles, Despot and Vihor.

The Police Director of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, heads of administrations, as well as many citizens, also attended the demonstration exercise.
