The Republic of Srpska

Today, at the Zalužani Training Centre, the seventh anniversary of the establishment of the Gendarmerie Unit of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was marked. The unit was formed to provide an adequate response to complex tasks and security challenges in order to ensure security of citizens and their property on the territory of the Republic of Srpska. 

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Željko Budimir, said that the Gendarmerie Unit showed its skills and capabilities daily in maintaining public peace and order, and that could respond to all tasks that the regular police can not respond independently. 

He stated that the process of equipping the Gendarmerie with gear that meets tasks and needs in the 21st century would continue. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to its members for everything they accomplished over the past year, which was highly challenging and difficult, emphasising that their engagement contributed to maintaining stability in the Republic of Srpska. 

The Commander of the Gendarmerie Unit of the Republic of Srpska MoI, Mr Slaviša Trifković, stated that the Gendarmerie would remain a strong anchor of the Ministry of the Interior, ready to provide maximum protection to all citizens within its competence, maintain public peace and order, and respond to all security risks and threats. 

The Commander of the Mrkonjić Grad Gendarmerie Unit, Mr Dragan Boškan, who was presented with a letter of appreciation for his successful work, stated that it brought him great pride and honour to have served the people and the Republic of Srpska. 

On the occasion of marking the seventh anniversary of the establishment of the Gendarmerie Unit of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, a letter of appreciation was also presented to a police officer, Mr Goran Draganić. 

The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, also attended this ceremony, alongside representatives of the Armed Force of BiH, and management within the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.
