The Republic of Srpska

The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, hosted the meeting with police liaison officers and representatives of diplomatic-consular offices of Slovenia, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Austria, Romania and Spain. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the cooperation achieved so far between the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the partner police agencies and institutions. The possibilities of further improving the existing cooperation were also considered, especially in the following fields: information exchange, operational cooperation, countering organized crime, irregular migration, and other forms of crime. The Director of the Federal Police Administration of BIH, Mr Igor Marić, and Chief of Police of Brčko District, Mr Goran Pisić, also attended the meeting at the invitation of Director Kostrešević. 

Director Kostrešević stressed the significance of direct communication with liaison officers since it represented an important channel for efficient exchange of intelligence and coordination of activities with international partners. ‘There are no borders for police cooperation. Efficient fight against contemporary forms of crime requires timely information exchange, mutual trust and continuous communication with partner police agencies. It is this type of cooperation the Republic of Srpska Police aims to further develop and enhance’, Director Kostrešević said. 

During this visit, the Republic of Srpska Police Director presented to the guests the capacities and activities of the Ministry of the Interior, and together with their host, the liaison officers visited the Training Center in Zalužani, near Banja Luka. On that occasion, they had the opportunity to see the infrastructure, teaching and accommodation capacities, as well as numerous contents of the Center used for vocational training, general training and professional training of the police officers.
