The Republic of Srpska

The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, as the lead institution in efforts to improve the security and protection of critical infrastructure and public spaces, organized a visit by the Project Team and two separate meetings with representatives of the competent institutions of the Republic of Srpska, in cooperation with the project “Enhancing Critical Infrastructure Resilience and Protecting Public and Cyber Spaces against Security Threats in the Western Balkans – CEPS & Cyber”.

At the meeting with members of the Interdepartmental Working Group for the Implementation of the Law on the Security of Critical Infrastructure in the Republic of Srpska, participants reviewed the existing legal, institutional and operational framework, available capacities, as well as the needs and challenges related to the protection of critical entities and critical infrastructure.

Particular attention was paid to risk and threat assessment, the exchange of information and practical experience, and opportunities to further improve the critical infrastructure protection system in the Republic of Srpska.

The second meeting focused on the protection of public spaces and was held with representatives of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and other institutions responsible for this area. Discussions covered risk and vulnerability assessment methodologies, the identification of spaces of particular security significance, potential threats, existing protection measures and opportunities for their improvement.

The meetings also specifically addressed issues related to anti-drone protection, including existing UAS/C-UAS systems, procedures and operational capacities for detecting and responding to the abuse of drones, as well as risk and threat assessment, coordination among competent institutions and the exchange of practical experience.

The activities undertaken by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska aim to strengthen the resilience of critical entities, critical infrastructure and public spaces, improve existing security mechanisms and enhance the capacities of competent institutions to prevent and respond to contemporary security threats.
