Driving licence

In addition to the request for the issuance of a driving licence (the request form is obtained and filled out at the location), it is necessary to submit the following documents:

1. medical certificate on person’s ability to drive a motor vehicle from the category or sub-category for which the request was submitted, which shall not be older than 12 months,
2. certificate of passed driving test for driving a motor vehicle that belongs to the category or sub-category for which driving licence was requested, which shall not be older than 12 months,
3. document confirming place of residence, or temporary place of residence (information obtained from person’s identity card),
4. document on the approved temporary residence for a foreign citizen (identity card for foreign citizens or proof on the approved temporary residence),
5. proof of paying the regulated fee for driving licence form in the amount of BAM 60.00, and proof of paying the administration fee in the amount of BAM 5.00.

Legal term for issuing a driving licence is 30 days from the date of submitting the request.

Renewal of driving licence

In addition to the request for renewing driving licence, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

1. previously issued driving licence,
2. proof of paying the regulated fee for driving licence form in the amount of BAM 60.00, and the proof of paying the administration fee in the amount of BAM 5.00.

Loss of a driving licence

In case of losing their driving licence, the person submitting the request shall also submit the following documents:

1. document issued by the competent authority confirming that the loss or theft of driving licence has been reported,
2. proof of paying the regulated fee for the driving licence form in the amount of BAM 60.00 and the proof of paying the administration fee in the amount of BAM 5.00.

Adding a new category or sub-category, changing any information in the driving licence, or if driving licence is damaged or worn out

In case of entering new category or sub-category, changing any piece of information in driving licence, or if driving licence is damaged or worn out, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

1. the previously issued driving licence,
2. certificate of passing a driving test for driving a motor vehicle (in cases of entering new category or sub-category),
3. proof of changing any piece of information from the previous driving licence (except for changing the residence), and
4. proof of paying the regulated fee for driving licence form in the amount of BAM 60.00, and the proof of paying the administration fee in the amount of BAM 5.00.

Replacement of driving licence due to expiry of its validity period

In addition to replacement request, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

1. driving licence whose validity period has expired,
2. medical certificate on person’s ability to drive a motor vehicle that belongs to the category or sub-category from the previous driving licence, that may not be older than 6 months – only for a driver of motor vehicle whose driving licence was issued with shorter validity period,
3. medical certificate on person’s ability to drive a vehicle that belongs to D category and D1 sub-category, that may not be older than 6 months – for driver of motor vehicle whose driving licence was issued for driving vehicles that belong to D category and D1 sub-category,
4. proof of paying regulated fee for driving licence form in the amount of BAM 60.00, and the proof of paying the administration fee in the amount of BAM 5.00.

Replacement of foreign driving licence

In addition to the request to replace a foreign driving licence, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

1. valid foreign driving licence,
2. translation of foreign driving licence verified by a court interpreter,
3. proof that the person has an identity card as the citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, identity card for foreign citizens or proof of the approved temporary residence,
4. medical certificate on person’s ability to drive a vehicle that belongs to the category or sub-category for which the request was submitted, not older than 6 months
5. proof of paying regulated fee for driving licence in the amount of BAM 60.00, and the proof of paying the administration fee in the amount of BAM 5.00.

In case of changing the permanent or temporary residence, or the location of residence for a foreign citizen, the foreign citizen shall not change their driving licence.

However, if this situation occurs, foreign citizen shall report the change of their residence to the records of drivers of the competent authority on the territory of their new permanent/temporary residence within 15 days from the date the change occurred.

International driving licence

International driving licence shall be issued by Automobile Association of the Republic of Srpska.
