The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior announced the marking of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Tomorrow, on 26 June 2015, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior is going to participate in the marking of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

As a part of marking this date, on territory of all Public Security Centers, the distribution of educational flyers will be organized, called ‘Correct decision makes difference! Choose real friends!’, with the aim of informing citizens on how harmful narcotic drugs are for the health of an individual and safety within a community, as well as to have preventive effect.

At the press conference organized by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska, the representative of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior in the Commission for countering the abuse of narcotic drugs in the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Ilija Plavša, said that, every year, the Ministry of the Interior performed about 15 operational actions on international and regional level related to breaking organized crime groups.

In the field of reducing the supply of narcotic drugs in the Republic of Srpska, the Ministry of the Interior continuously performs different activities related to implementing law regulations governing this field and continuous implementation of police activities in cooperation with the competent prosecutor’s offices, which resulted in seizing significant amounts of narcotic drugs, breaking several international organized crime groups, apprehending a great number of persons, as well as seizing significant amounts of weapon, ammunition, explosives and equipment intended for growing and processing narcotic drugs.

In addition, Team for monitoring the implementation of the Strategy for controlling narcotic drugs of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior provides support to the Republic of Srpska Commission for countering drug abuse, which is actually an interdepartmental body comprised of competent ministries, National Assembly Boards, inspection and NGOs.
