MEMORANDUM ON STRENGTHENING POLICE COOPERATION SIGNED

Today, in Banja Luka, the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Dragan Lukač, the Minister of the Interior of the Federation of BIH, Mr. Aljoša Čampara, and Police Director of the Federation of BIH, Mr. Dragan Lukač, signed the Memorandum on strengthening police cooperation between the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Federation of BIH Ministry of the Interior.

The agreement involves improving cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism, information exchange in police cooperation, providing special protection for certain persons in BIH, countering organized crime and all other forms of crime.

Minister Lukač indicated that there were concrete activities in the Memorandum that would be undertaken by the two ministries and emphasized the importance of forming joint teams in charge of operational investigating activities in the Republic of Srpska or the Federation of BIH, depending on where a more serious criminal offense had taken place.

‘Joint investigation teams can significantly improve the process of countering organized crime and all other forms of police cooperation, as planned by this Memorandum’, Minister Lukač pointed out.

Minister of the Interior of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Aljoša Čampara, also confirmed the significance of joint activities in countering all forms of crime, in the exchange of information and experience, and in mutual police training.

Police Director of the Republic of Srpska was also present at the signing of the Memorandum.
