MINISTER LUKAČ VISITED THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BANJA LUKA

Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska met today with the Mayor of the City of Banja Luka, Mr. Slobodan Gavranović.

During this first official visit, the security situation in the City of Banja Luka was discussed and the measures undertaken to raise the level of security as high as possible.

Minister Lukač and Mayor Gavranović agreed that police officers in the City of Banja Luka perform their duties properly. They also said they were pleased with the fact they were going to cooperate on the joint project of installing video surveillance in the city, which would contribute to improving the activities related to traffic control and, in general, raising the security level of the citizens of Banja Luka.

In addition, at the meeting, the contract was signed on transferring property rights over the land situated within the complex of military barracks in the suburbian borough of Zalužani, with which the City concedes a part of that land to the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.

‘The intention of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior is to place Special Police Unit on this location, as well as the Support Unit of Banja Luka Public security Center, the newly formed Administration for Countering Terrorism and Extremism, Administration for Protecting Persons and Facilities, Traffic Police, Detention Units, and to build a training center,’ Minister Lukač said after the meeting with Mayor Gavranović.
