MORE THAN 88% OF DRIVERS EXCLUDED FROM TRAFFIC AS A RESULT OF DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

With the aim to improve the traffic safety situation on the territory of the Republic of Srpska, from 2 October 2015 to 4 October 2015, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior organized and realized the action of ‘Increased control of participants in traffic’ on the territories of Public Security Centers in Banja Luka, Doboj, and Istočno Sarajevo.
During the action, 1,366 participants in traffic were controlled, and 1,196 of them, or 87.55%, were sanctioned for committing a minor offence in traffic.
In addition, out of the total number of 138 drivers who were excluded from traffic, 122 or 88.40% of them were excluded as a result of driving under the influence of alcohol, and on the territory of Istočno Sarajevo Public Security Center, two participants in traffic were excluded as a result of driving under the influence of drugs or psychoactive substances.
Furthermore, as a result of crossing the speed limit, the total number of 326 drivers was sanctioned, and 177 or 54.3% of them were sanctioned on the territory of Banja Luka Public Security Center, whereas the smallest number of minor offences of speeding – 57 or 17.49% was recorded on the territory of Istočno Sarajevo Public Security Center.
Also, out of 399 minor offence warrants issued to the participants in traffic for not using the means of protection, the greatest number – 387 or 96.99% of them was issued for not using safety belt.
In this action, technical malfunction of motor vehicles was detected in 93 cases, and in four of those cases the technical malfunction of vital devices was established.
The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior will continue to perform increased controls of participants in traffic, so we urge all the participants in traffic to act responsibly and to follow traffic regulations.
