DEMONSTRATION EXERCISE ‘JOINT ACTION 2015’ REALIZED

Today, Special Police Unit and the Support unit of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with Intervention unit of the Court police and the Police of the Criminal-Correctional Facility in Banja Luka performed the demonstration exercise ‘Joint action 2015’.

The exercise was performed based on the agreement among all security agencies of the Republic of Srpska, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice. The members of these agencies showed that they can act together in complicated situations which may happen in prisons: preventing an attempted escape from prison, hostage situation and an attack on guards.

After the exercise ended, Minister of the Interior, Mr. Dragan Lukač, said that the performance of exercise was very successful.

‘The exercise showed that we can stop attacks on prisons and prevent escapes, provide the security of other convicts, guards, prison staff, as well as citizens that happen to be near the facility’, Minister Lukač said.

Director of the Criminal-Correctional Facility in Banja Luka, Mr. Radenko Vujasin, said that the aim of the exercise is to show the level of training of all units that participated in the demonstration.

He added that the last time a prisoner escaped from this prison was 7 years ago and that there have not been such attempts since.
