THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR OBTAINED THE 16 NEW MOBILE RADAR SYSTEMS

| Banja Luka | Tuesday, 03/11/2015

The Head of the Uniformed Police Administration, Dragan Jevđenić, announced the activation of the 16 new mobile radar systems for measuring speed of vehicles in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.

On this occasion, Mr. Jevđenić said that the 15 laser devices for measuring  speed were obtained as well as the big ’’dual reflex’’ radar of the latest generation, which can measure the speed in six traffic tracks. The main reason for this procurement is controlling the traffic in the places where it is not possible for a police officer to stop a vehicle safely.

The new devices are adjusted to work in all weather conditions and it is also possible to operate them both automatically and manually.

Also, the Head of the Administration pointed out that the new devices have the memory that cannot be easily modified, as well as the installed GPS device which shows the exact place where an offence was committed.

Considering the fact that 60% of the traffic accidents with fatal consequences are caused by exceeding the speed limit, with this purchase of the new devices  the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior reaches one of the aims of the traffic safety strategy- that the drivers adjust the speed limit to the conditions on the road.
