THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR IMPLEMENTING A CAMPAIGN ‘STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE’

In the following period, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with ICITAP program in Bosnia and Herzegovina is going to implement the campaign ‘Stop domestic violence! - Do not suffer! Report violence!’

Within the campaign, in all cities of the Republic of Srpska, the uniformed police officers, together with representatives of crime police, are going to educate the citizens about this offence, as well as about proceedings of the police and other competent bodies, through conversation and distribution of information and educational materials.

Namely, the aim of the campaign is to introduce citizens to what domestic violence is, as well as to encourage them to report it if they have information about it. Within this campaign, there are going to be information stands placed, from which police officers are going to distribute information brochures. On this occasion, they are also going to answer the citizens’ questions, as well as teach them about the police proceedings and proceedings of other bodies upon receiving a report.

On the territory of the Republic of Srpska, from January to September 2015, 248 criminal offences of ‘Domestic Violence’ were recorded (25.5% less when compared with the same period last year) for which there were 244 reports submitted to the competent prosecutor’s offices against 260 perpetrators.

Note: The implementation of the campaign is going to begin in Banja Luka, on Thursday, 5 November 2015. After that, the campaign is going to be implemented on the territories of all other Public Security Centres, and the media are going to be timely informed about it.
