MARKING THE PATRON SAINT’S DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR

Today, at the ceremony of marking the Archangel Michael’s day, the patron saint of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, the Minister of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Dragan Lukač, expressed the sincerest congratulations to all members of the Ministry on this special day.  

On important days such as this one, we remember with  great grief and   immeasurable pride at the same time, our 782 police officers who died or are  missing, those who gave their lives for the Republic of Srpska and future generations. Therefore, they will not and must never be forgotten, because they live through new generations who are coming’’, Minister pointed out.

 Minister Lukač said that the Police of the Republic of Srpska would continue training their staff and equipping their facilities with the assistance of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, which will continue to be great support in future.

For the next year, he announced many events related to the equipping and training the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, as well as further improvement of their work.

“The reason we have to do all this is that we are facing a great evil called terrorism, which came to Bosnia and Herzegovina a long time ago and many people did not wish  to accept or recognize it as such until recently. Therefore, we have to do this and keep our police officers equipped and trained enough in order to fight this scourge which is attacking the whole world”,  Minister Lukač emphasized.

The Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, Ms. Željka Cvijanović, said  that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Police of the Republic of Srpska represent  an important constituent of the identity of the Republic of Srpska.

“These institutions are a part of the identity of the Republic of Srpska not only for their devoted work in creating the Republic of Srpska, together with our soldiers, but also for showing that they are the pillar of security and statehood of the Republic of Srpska”,  the Prime Minister Cvijanović pointed out.

She stressed that the Police of the Republic of Srpska has to be ready to respond to global threats, in order to be capable to face these challenges. This includes strengthening capacities, equipping and training the members of the Police of the Republic of Srpska.

“The Police of the Republic of Srpska should defend every citizen of the Republic of Srpska”, the Prime Minister Cvijanović said.

On the occasion of the patron saint’s day of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, five police officers were awarded with the highest token of recognition for their expressed courage, determination and professionalism in performing the official duties. The following police officers were awarded with this recognition: Mr. Dragan Đurić (posthumously), Mr. Željko Gajić, Mr. Stevo Milovanović, Mr. Pero Petrović and Mr. Sredo Gavrić.

At the ceremony of promoting the students of the Higher School of the Interior of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, 70 graduates, all Bachelors of Laws of the Interior, and the three most successful students from this generation were promoted.
