''FIGHTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN'' WORKSHOP

In cooperation with Tecnical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commisson (TAIEX), the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior is organizing the workshop whose topic is: ''Fighting violence against women'', that is going to last for two days in Banjaluka.
The aim of this workshop is to present to the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and to other participants of the workshop the best practice of the European Union in fighting violence against women, legislation of the European Union and conventions of the United Nations, which are binding in our country as well. Another aim of this workshop is the exchange of participants' experience about treating victims of violence and defense mechanisms in practice, which include defense tactics and strategies.
In addition, the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the members of other police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the representatives of the Ministries of the Interior in Slovenia and Italy are also participanting in this workshop, as well as the representatives of other important institutions and establishments: The Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Institution of Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the centers for Social Work and NGOs.
At the workshop, special atention is paid to improving practical skills of the participants, including better communication between victims and the police and estimating the risks related to gender-based violence in and outside domestic environment.
