| Banja Luka
| Friday, 06/03/2020
The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukac, and BiH Minister of Security, Mr Fahrudin Radoncic, held a meeting today in Banja Luka, and on that occasion they agreed it was necessary to increase the capacities of the BiH Border Police in order to fulfil the obligations in border protection.
Minister Lukac pointed out that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior has already established cooperation with the BiH Border Police, and that 100 police officers from the Republic of Srpska are on the BiH border.
He stated it was necessary to establish cooperation between the institutions in order to tackle possible issues, considering the situation at the border between Turkey and Greece and the migrants located there.
Radoncic expressed his content with the fact that certain attitudes of these two ministries were agreed, emphasising the importance of cooperation, the absence of which caused many processes to be blocked.
He pointed out the importance of cooperation in strengthening the capacities of the Border Police, adding that this calls for bigger budget and that they initiated the activities in obtaining money for at least 400 more border police officers, despite the fact that they need at least 1,200 of them.
