A PERSON FROM STANARI ARRESTED WITHIN AN INTERNATIONAL POLICE INVESTIGATION

Police officers from the Department for countering cybercrime, Crime Police Administration of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and partner law enforcement agencies from Great Britain realized an international operation directed against persons who were creating viruses and infecting computers worldwide.
After several months, the investigation detected the persons who were creating malware and distributing them through specialized platforms online. By the order issued by the Primary Court in Doboj, and with the consent of the District Court in Doboj, a person from Stanari, whose initials are R.P, was arrested.
The person is suspected of committing the criminal offences of ‘Creating and inserting computer viruses’ and ‘Money laundering’.
During the search of residential and other facilities used by the R.P. in Stanari, several mobile phones, computers, tablets, a few external storage devices, SIM cards of different mobile network operators from Europe and world, payment slips, records that may be connected to the aforementioned criminal offences, and money in the amount of BAM 37,000.00 in different denominations of convertible marks and euros. In addition, the bank account on which there was the total amount of about BAM 46,000.00 was blocked.
The investigation confirmed that the suspect, together with the persons from the territory of Eastern Europe, infected computers on the territory of Great Britain, USA and other countries of Western Europe and world, with the aim of creating the network of infected computers (‘Botnet’). After that, they committed numerous attacks (DDoS, Ransomware) through the controlled use of the Botnet, with the aim of obtaining illegal material gain.
After the investigation was completed, and upon obtaining the consent of the prosecutor of the District Court in Doboj, the person was released from custody. The report on the committed criminal offence against R.P. shall be submitted to the competent prosecutor’s office.
