THE PROMOTION OF THE 21ST CLASS OF POLICE ACADEMY AND 7TH CLASS FOR SPECIAL ANTI-TERRORIST UNIT

Today, in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior held the ceremony of promotion for 325 cadets of the 21st class of the Police training unit – Police Academy, and the 7th class of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit.

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, said he was honoured to address the cadets who were going to protect the citizens of Srpska and their property in future.

He pointed out that the citizens of the Republic of Srpska could be proud of the new forces of the Ministry and that these cadets were the representatives of the Republic of Srpska and the Ministry of the Interior.

‘In this year, which was very complex for both the citizens and the police due to the challenges that came COVID-19 pandemic, started working as police officers on streets earlier that they normally would, because they wished to help police officers in their activities, and they were successful in completing their tasks’, Minister Lukač said.

He congratulated the cadets for successful education and persistence in wearing the uniform of the Republic of Srpska Police which he believes they will proudly wear.

Head of the Administration for Police Education, Mr Mile Šikman, said that the promoted cadets were in obligation to perform their duty with honour and fairly, aware that the society and citizens expected a lot from them.

‘The current security risks and threats, the migrant crisis and terrorism above all, require the readiness to react in every moment in any part of the Republic of Srpska’, Mr Šikman said.

The Serbian member of the BIH Presidency, Mr Milorad Dodik, said that the new generation of police officers proved that the Republic of Srpska could, despite all the challenges, dedicate to educating the police in which the people in the Republic of Srpska has the most trust.

‘This is why your role is very important – you have to make sure that this people trusts you. You are the best among us, those who turn our dreams into reality, with the aim of making the Republic of Srpska a country of stability. Nobody can be allowed to break the law, regardless of their position’, Mr Dodik said.

He added that there were numerous challenges before the police, and confirmed that the authorities of the Republic of Srpska would make sure for the police to have the best work conditions.

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Ms Željka Cvijanović, said that the institutions of the Republic of Srpska aim at strengthening the security capacities of the Republic everyone should be proud of.

‘The aim must be preservation of the Republic, making it strong, stable, unquestioned and the only place to live for all of us’, the President Cvijanović said.

She also congratulated the cadets’ parents, because they should be proud of them.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Radovan Višković, pointed out that the activities of a police officer represented every country, and that the Republic of Srpska was very proud of its police and the Ministry of the Interior.

‘The way you work will shape our future. Our police proved its relationship towards this very complex and difficult profession also during the pandemic, when they showed courage, sacrifice and commitment to the Republic of Srpska’, Prime Minister Višković said during his address.

The most successful cadet, Mr Aleksa Đurić, said he had beautiful memories from the education and training period, which was not easy and required a lot of sacrifice.

‘Based on an agreement of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior were offered a possibility to continue their education at the Military Academy. There are three members of our Ministry there, and this year, my colleague and I are going’, Mr Đurić said.

In addition to Mr Đurić, Mr Jovica Ostojić and Mr Slobodan Đukanović were also declared as the best cadets.

Minister Lukač awarded commendations and awards to the best cadets, and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević gave the Decision on deployment to each of them.
