THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR AND POLICE DIRECTOR OPENED THE NEW POLICE STATION FACILITY BANJA LUKA - LAUŠ

| Banja Luka | Sunday, 18/10/2020

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, together with the Police Director of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, the President of the Republic of Srpska, Ms Željka Cvijanović, and the mayor of the City of Banja Luka, Mr Igor Radojičić, opened the new facility for Police Station Lauš, in Banja Luka.

The total value of the facility, which was a joint project of the Republic of Srpska Government and the City of Banja Luka, is BAM 1.3 million. Minister Lukač said he was pleased that Lauš, which was one of the oldest boroughs in the city on the Vrbas River, got a new police station facility.

‘We are co-owners here, but I am sure that we will be good neighbours. The Government invested BAM 600,000 in this facility, and the rest of the funds for building this facility was provided by the City’, the first man of the Ministry of the Interior said.

This Police Station Lauš covers the territory of about 873 km2, with the population of about 90,000. The new facility of Lauš PS in Banja Luka is a custom built, modern and functional, total surface of about 450 m2. This is the first police station facility built in Banja Luka after more than 30 years. The whole facility actually has two parts: one part of it are the premises of the Police Station, and in the other, there are offices of the local community Lauš 1 and Lauš 2. The construction of the facility started in March 2019.

President Cvijanović said that this is one of numerous projects where the Government and the City worked together.

‘I am happy to say that we initiated this project while I was the Prime Minister. There are many projects ahead of us, and this is why we need stability in every local community’, President Cvijanović said, and added that that was a great day not only for Lauš and Banja Luka, but also for the Republic of Srpska, and that all the citizens of the Republic of Srpska were proud of everything Banja Luka was.

Mayor Radojičić said that Lauš was a developing borough, but that it still needed a lot for it to become a municipality.

‘We will work for these two local communities to have contents as if they were a small municipality. What lies ahead of us is building a new borough for 21st century, solving issues of rainwater as well as the sewage system, and many other projects in order to make Lauš a borough for pleasant living’, mayor Radojičić said.
