THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR PARTICIPATING IN THE ’’LIVING LIFE WITHOUT VIOLENCE“CAMPAIGN
| Banja Luka | Thursday, 26/11/2020
On the occasion of marking 16 Days of Activism, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior joins the campaign of the Republic of Srpska Gender Centre "Living Life without Violence" with the aim of informing as many women and all other victims of domestic violence about their rights, but also with the aim of raising public awareness on zero tolerance to violence and the importance of reporting to the competent institutions.
Domestic violence, as well as violence against women in general, is a civilizational challenge of any society. It differs from other forms of violence as it always appears in the privacy zone, the most intimate sphere of life where everyone should feel safe.
According to the latest survey on the prevalence and characteristics of violence against women in BiH, 47.3% of surveyed women in the Republic of Srpska have experienced some form of violence since the age of fifteen. The sphere of intimate partner and family relationships is still the most dangerous for women and girls, because the perpetrators are in most cases their husbands, fathers, partners, other relatives and persons close to them. All citizens have the obligation to report domestic violence if they have any information.
On this occasion, we urge all institutions, civil society organisations, individuals, to join us in marking the global campaign to end violence against women and never to remain silent about violence against women and girls!
