MINISTER LUKAČ WITH BRAVE POLICE OFFICERS
| Banja Luka | Monday, 28/12/2020
Today, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, organised the traditional New Year reception, this time for 34 police officers who showed a high degree of professionalism and sacrifice in saving human lives this year. On this occasion, he pointed out that, with their brave acts and sacrifice, they showed what it meant to wear a police uniform, be humane, a person of integrity and a top professional.
‘They saved people and risked their lives at the same time. Our police officers are well trained and motivated to help their citizens in any situation and in any place’, Minister Lukač said. He added that the police officers saved people from rivers, lakes and difficult situations in which lives were in danger.
One of the police officers who attended the reception was Mr Borislav Knežević, from Derventa Police Station, who, in the beginning of this year, together with his colleagues, saved a baby that was left in a basket in the street. He claims that he will never forget that task, even though he has spent 30 years in service. ‘Most definitely, such events mean a lot to us, as well, and we prefer them to any repression’, Mr Knežević said.
A member of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Predrag Javorac, said that he and his colleagues from Banja Luka Police Administration saved a person from Vrbas River and that he was very proud to serve the people in the Republic of Srpska.
An especially high risk was encountered by a police officer from Ljubinje Police Station, Mr Siniša Bukvić, who within his intervention, acting upon a report received by Ljubinje PS, managed to seize a bomb and a knife from a person who threatened to activate the bomb, and there were no consequence for anybody.
These police officers and all others who were invited to the reception, received notes of thanks from the Minister.
