CONTINUED COOPERATION BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR AND THE SERBIAN MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

| Banja Luka | Wednesday, 10/03/2021

Serbian Defence Minister Nebojša Stefanović visited today the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, where he met with Minister Dragan Lukač, and after the meeting they visited the RS Ministry of the Interior Training Centre complex in Zalužani, near Banja Luka.

Minister Lukač discussed further co-operation between the two ministries with Minister Stefanović.

"The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence of Republic of Serbia will continue to co-operate in the part of the education of its people at the Military Academy of the Republic of Serbia. We currently have six cadets who are educated at the Military Academy of Republic of Serbia, and one of them is a pilot, a girl who last year met all the requirements for a helicopter pilot and started her education. These days we have reopened the competition for the Military Academy. This future cooperation, especially the education of pilots, is very important for the future of the Helicopter Unit of the RS Ministry of the Interior since the Ministry has not educated a helicopter pilot in more than 30 years and as you can see, the Interior Ministry has formed a Helicopter Unit. The first helicopter has been delivered, the second helicopter should arrive in the middle of the year, the third should be completed by the end of the year and delivered in 2022" Minister Lukač said.

Minister Lukač thanked Minister Stefanović for his continued support for the RS Ministry of Interior during his time as the Interior Minister of the Republic of Serbia, and added that the RS Interior Ministry has several members in the Special Anti-Terrorism Unit who have completed the Military Academy of the Republic of Serbia.

"Our co-operation will continue in other areas where there is contact between the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia," Minister Lukač concluded.

Minister Stefanović expressed satisfaction with being at the Training Centre complex.

"I am glad to see that the police base has really progressed, how much has been invested in the Republic of Srpska forces tasked with preserving security, fighting crime and protecting the population of Republic of Srpska in order to have a quality, serious and modern Training Centre. Also, I am glad that the co-operation between the Serbian Army and the Republic of Srpska Police is very good and that this kind of co-operation can be further enhanced. Our goal is to work together to ensure that people dealing with security have a good training and conditions, so that people living in Republic of Srpska and Serbia and anywhere we take care of security are safe and secure. What is important for us is the continued co-operation in all fields," Minister Stefanović said.
