"The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and our members are always available to the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of Republic of Srpska when needed to provide the necessary blood supplies. Today's action is an example of such co-operation and humanity – Republic of Srpska Police Director Siniša Kostrešević said today.
He visited the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka, where members of the Republic of Srpska Interior Ministry donated blood to mark the April 4th - the Republic of Srpska Police Day.
Director Kostrešević said that 500 members of the Republic of Srpska Interior Ministry will donate blood over the next three days throughout Srpska and noted that this is the first action for members of the Interior Ministry to voluntarily donate the blood in 2021 and that more than 1,500 police officers donated blood last year when the corona virus pandemic began.
The Republic of Srpska Transfusion Medicine Institute Director Dr Gordana Guzijan said that members of the Republic of Srpska Interior Ministry will donate blood today and over the next two days in all ten cities where transfusion services exist.
"Since the beginning of the pandemic, members of the Interior Ministry have always been there to help us, whenever we spoke that our blood supply has been reduced. So far, five actions have been organised, but members of the Republic of Srpska Interior Ministry have come in large numbers and have come on their own volition," Guzijan said.
Police officer Danijel Miljić said that he had been donating blood for several years and that it is a great honour and always a new experience.
