THE SIXTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TERRORIST ATTACK ON THE ZVORNIK POLICE STATION

| Zvornik | Tuesday, 27/04/2021

The laying of wreaths and the memorial service for the dead police officer Dragan Đuric today in Zvornik marked the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Zvornik Police Station.

The wreaths were laid by the family of Dragan Đuric,  the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior Head of Police Administration Dalibor Ivanić, representatives of the Zvornik Police Administration, veteransﹶ organizations of the homeland defense war and Zvornik City Administration. Previously, representatives of the Zvornik Police Administration and Dragan Đurićﹶs family laid wreaths at the local cemetery in Karakaj.

Head of the Police Administration Ivanić said that six years ago, a terrorist attack was carried out in Zvornik against Republic of Srpska and the police, in which police officer Dragan Đurić lost his life in a brutal and cruel manner, while performing regular tasks without being able to defend himself. He reminded that police officers Stevo Milovanović and Zeljko Gajić were wounded in the terrorist attack, while a terrorist was shot down in the exchange of fire.

"This is an event that we should be reminded of on a daily basis and an event that we must not forget, an event that obliges us to take all the necessary measures of daily caution in a timely manner so that it never happens again. It is for this reason that we are specially organised, trained, but also additionally prepared in order to take all additional measures to maintain a high level of security for Republic of Srpska, its institutions and, more importantly, every citizen," Head of the Police Administration Ivanić said and noted that the fight against terrorism is a priority activity in the work of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.

Head of the Police Administration Ivanić stated that the terrorist attack was not organized by an individual.

"Certainly there are people who recruited and planned the execution of this terrorist act, but the fact is that the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH, after the terrorist was shot down, have not taken any measures further to expand, detect and identify the circle of suspects involved in preparing such a serious terrorist attack,"  Ivanić said.

Zvornik Police Administration Chief Aleksandar Vasiljević said that even six years after the terrorist attack on the Zvornik Police Station, BiH judicial institutions are not taking actions on this matter.

"Neither the Prosecutor's Office nor the Court of BiH have yet invited any of those present to this terrorist attack as a witness to make a statement, nor has anything else been done, i.e. the BiH judicial institutions continue to remain silent about the terrorist attack in Zvornik," Zvornik Police Administration Chief Aleksandar Vasiljević said, stressing that the Zvornik Police Administration has not received back either the weapons or the uniform from the forensic experts, which was taken after the attack for the investigative purposes.

The Secretary of the City Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Fighters and Missing Civilians Zvornik Milivoje Marković stated that the terrorist act committed in Zvornik was an additional crime after a tragedy.

"In his home village of Željovi, the father of Dragan Đurić was killed in 1992 as a civilian, and after so many years in peace the terrorist came to kill Dragan as well," Markovic said.

Dragan Đuric's brother, Anđelko Đurić, said this is a rememberance day of an event that took one life and wrapped the Đurić family in black.
