MINISTER LUKAČ AND HEAD OF MUNICIPALITY RAKIĆ SIGN AGREEMENT ON ESTABLISHING VIDEO SURVEILLANCE IN VUKOSAVLJE

| Vukosavlje | Wednesday, 09/06/2021

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior Dragan Lukač and Vukosavlje Municipality Head Borislav Rakić signed today an agreement on the procurement of seven security cameras to be installed in this municipality for the safety of citizens.

Minister Lukač stated that the three cameras would be ANPR, so-called smart cameras that recognize plates and other details needed to control the passing of people who come with bad intent and to make it easier to find them.

"The cameras will be obtained for the purpose of citizens' safety, and I hope they will support that," Minister Lukač said.

From the police experience so far, it is known that establishing such surveillance and control systems, with the help of technical systems and cameras, contributes up to 50% to the reduction of criminal offences and violations.

Minister Lukač noted that Vukosavlje is one of 45 Republic of Srpska municipalities with whom the Interior Ministry has signed contracts so far.

For the security situation in Vukosavlje, he said it was at an extremely satisfactory level, confirming the fact that only 14 minor crimes or offences were recorded last year, with no serious crimes or acts that could upset the public.

"Sometimes a few migrants emerge, and the police, together with the population, deal with this effectively," Minister Lukač said.

He announced that the Vukosavlje Police Department would be reinforced with four to five police officers in order to control and prevent any criminal offences regardless of a good security situation.

Head of Vukosavlje Municipality Rakić stated that the agreement envisions calling tenders for the procurement of cameras that will be installed on the main roads and the roads that are of safety interest to the municipality and the Ministry of the Interior, and will only be used to improve the safety of citizens.

This, he explained, will be especially important when the Municipality of Vukosavlje in the coming period becomes a major construction site at the future intersection of Budapest - Ploče and Belgrade – Banjaluka highways.

As for the security situation, Municipality Head Rakić stated that no ethnic incidents were recorded  thanks to the residents and police in this municipality.

Minister Lukač and Head of Municipality Rakić toured the new building of the municipality's administrative centre, whose completion is planned for Municipal Day - September 8th, and the intersection of the main road Bijeljina - Banjaluka and the regional road Modriča - Odžak in the town of Jakešnica.
