Police director with police attachés of 12 countries in Trebinje

International police co-operation of the Republic of Srpska police with police from other countries in the area of crime suppression is good and certainly this is something to work on all the time, because without the exchange of information and joint operational work, there are no good results, the Republic of Srpska Police Director Siniša Kostrešević said at a meeting with police attachésof 12 countries and representatives of the European Union in Trebinje.
Police attachés of Germany, France, Croatia, Austria, Hungary, Great Britain, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland and representatives of the Delegation of the European Union in BiH and Serbia visited the Trebinje Police Administration today, where they visited the PA Trebinje Gendarmerie Unit and got acquainted with the work of the video surveillance system in the area of Trebinje.
The police director addressed that the key factor in the fight against organized crime and human trafficking is co-operation with Europol, and expressed hope that BiH's Joint Contact Point for co-operation with Europol would finally begin work as all preconditions have been met.
Referring to the ongoing migrant crisis, Director Kostrešević stressed that Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Srpska Interior Ministry are undertaking a series of activities in the field of migration and that the co-ordination body of the government that monitors, analyzes and draws conclusions to the competent institutions in order to maintain a favourable state of security in the area of Republic of Srpska has been formed for this problem, without jeopardizing the human rights of the migrants themselves.
He reminded that RS Interior Ministry police officers under the signed Agreement on Co-operation with the BiH Border Police provide assistance to the Border Police in protecting the eastern border, which, depending on the migrant pressure, ranges up to 180 police officers in the field.
