46 cameras of the video surveillance system were put into operation in Prnjavor

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior Dragan Lukač and the mayor of the municipality of Prnjavor Darko Tomaš put into operation 46 cameras of the video surveillance system that has been established in the area of this municipality.
Minister Lukač said that video surveillance in a preventive sense means a great deal because it guarantees the safety of citizens and their properties. He stated that in a repressive sense, police officers have a starting position to detect committed crimes that are usually resolved successfully.
"We cover public areas with cameras. We do not invade on the private properties and private lives of people in any way, but everything that happens in public areas is very important to control for the safety of all our citizens ", said Minister Lukač and added that in the coming period Prnjavor will be analyzed to determine where additional cameras still need to be installed.
Minister Lukač said that in Republic of Srpska, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and local communities, video surveillance was established in 52 out of 64 municipalities, which has so far proved to be very successful and important for the safety of citizens and their properties.
"We have municipalities where the number of criminal acts and misdemeanors has been reduced by up to 50 percent, especially when it comes to serious criminal acts and thefts. In Prnjavor, it turned out that several misdemeanors and criminal offenses had been resolved at the very beginning of the establishment of video surveillance. It will certainly be more important in the next period ", concluded Minister Lukač.
The head of the Banja Luka Police Administration, Miloš Brkić, also attended operationalization start of the video surveillance system located at the Prnjavor Police Station.
The mayor of Prnjavor, Darko Tomaš, spoke about the advantages of the video surveillance system.
"Since October 15, when the system of penalties for unregistered vehicles has been in function, the system has recorded 426 violations in our municipality, which speaks volumes about its efficiency and prevention," Tomaš pointed out.
