Ten years of the Women's Network of the RS Ministry of the Interior marked

The Association of the Women's Network of the RS MoI - RS AWN of MoI organized an event in Banja Luka today to mark ten years of its existence and work, which was attended by the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior Dragan Lukač, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska Natalija Trivić, Minister of Family, Youth and Sports Srpska Sonja Davidović, high ranking officials in the Ministry of the Interior, members of the Women's Network and representatives of embassies and the non-governmental sector.
Minister Lukac said that currently 24 percent of the members of the RS MoI are women, and that this relationship will continue to be improved because this Ministry needs women on the important jobs and functions. He added that women make a great contribution to the advancement of the Ministry and that they work in the Ministry as chiefs, station commanders, and that many women work as police officers, but also as civil servants in some other jobs in the Ministry of the Interior.
Congratulating the members of the association for the tenth anniversary, the Minister said that the Ministry of the Interior will continue to support their activities, which are very important.
The Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, Natalija Trivić, stated that she has special respect for members of the Ministry of the Interior, and added that the presence of women in such positions with responsible tasks, apart from regular family obligations, sufficiently shows that they are women with special strength, ready to sacrifice in order to keep security as high as possible.
Sanja Sumonja, President of the Board of Directors of the Women's Network Association, stated that in ten years this association has implemented a wide range of projects and that its members have dealt primarily with vulnerable and marginal groups - women, domestic violence, discrimination against Roma and Roma children, LGBT population and similar. She pointed out that exceptional cooperation has been achieved with international and local organizations, embassies, local communities, and that they have great support from the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior in everything.
Željka Mileusnić, Deputy President of the Board of Directors of the Women's Network Association, said that this is the first association in Southeast Europe of this type, and that for 10 years the members of this association have provided support to other countries to establish these associations. She added that the mission and vision of the Women's Network go in the direction of preventing the suppression of gender-based violence and strengthening the role of women in security structures. She pointed out that the Women's Network has achieved extraordinary results, which are reflected in more than 1,500 trained representatives of protection entities and relevant institutions for the primary prevention of domestic violence, and on the development of the role of women in the Ministry of Interior and other security structures. She emphasized that due to the achievements, this association was declared by the international organizations of the UN last year as the most active and most influential association of female police officers in the whole world.
