Signing the Protocol between the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and OSCE Mission to BiH

Today, in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, and Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ms Kathleen Kavalec, signed the Protocol on the implementation of project activities between the OSCE and the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior to address security and safety risks of illegal possession, their misuse, and trafficking of small arms and light weapons (SALW), and their ammunition in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Lukač and Ambassador Kavalec pointed out that the Republic of Srpska MoI and OSCE BiH had excellent cooperation, which would be further improved through this Project implementation.
The OSCE Mission to BiH is currently implementing the project ‘’Resolving Security and Safety Risks of Illegal Possession, their Misuse, and Trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons, and their Ammunition in Bosnia and Herzegovina’’, and in this regard, the building/reconstruction and equipping of storage facilities at five locations are planned in administrations, as follows: Banja Luka, Prijedor, Doboj, Zvornik, and Foča.
In addition, it is planned to establish and build capacity for police dogs at three locations in the police administrations of Bijeljina, Trebinje and Doboj, as well as the procurement of necessary training equipment and the procurement of three specialised vehicles for the transport of police dogs.
